Presentation on the AI Act at Leibniz University&#8217;s &#8220;Nacht die Wissen schafft&#8221;, 4 November 2023<br \/><\/strong>Project member Jan Horstmann has introduced the upcoming EU Regulation on Artificial Intelligence (AI Act) at the science communication event &#8220;Nacht die Wissen schafft&#8221;. The presentation (in German) titled &#8220;Die KI-Verordnung der EU: Bekommt HAL9000 das CE-Kennzeichen?&#8221; was first presented at the BIAS project&#8217;s final conference and subsequently adapted for a broader audience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do we need a Right to ADM?<\/strong><br \/>Jan Horstmann has presented some thoughts on the question at the Young Digital Law Conference <em>&#8220;Bias in Law-Making &#8211; How Assumptions about Technology, Trustworthiness, and Human Agency underpin European Digital Law&#8221;,<\/em> hosted at the University of Vienna from 5 to 7 July.<\/p>\n<div id=\"c972254\" class=\"csc-default\"><strong>Lecture on AI Governance, Heidelberger Symposium<\/strong><br \/>Christian Heinze has given a lecture on AI Governance at the Heidelberger Symposium on 13 May 2023.<\/div>\n<p><strong>Paper on Multi-dimensional Discrimination accepted for FAccT 2023<br \/><\/strong>The paper &#8220;Multi-dimensional discrimination in Law and Machine Learning &#8211; A comparative overview&#8221; by project members Arjun Roy, Jan Horstmann and Eirini Ntoutsi has been accepted for presentation at FAccT 2023 and publication in the conference proceedings. A preprint version can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2302.05995\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arxiv<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Final Conference on 27-28 April in Hanover<br \/><\/strong>The project&#8217;s final conference will be held at Leibnizhaus Hanover in April. The aim of this project is to investigate what kind of measures are justifiable in the exceptional circumstances of a pandemic.
